About Teresa

Teresa Peña is a lifelong Tulsan and public educator who grew up attending and teaching in Tulsa Public Schools. After 36 years with Tulsa Public Schools, Teresa recently retired from TPS this past summer. Throughout her time at TPS, Teresa taught World Languages and served as an Academic Coordinator, School Design Specialist, and Building Administrator in both elementary and secondary settings.

  • Franklin Youth Academy

  • Wilson Teaching & Learning Academy

Teresa has a passion for learning and teaching. During her time as a teacher, it was her desire to pass that love to students and adults; that desire continues to this day! As a TPS board member, Teresa will have the opportunity to continue sharing her passion with others by focusing on the basics of education, recognizing & supporting teachers as professionals, and improving fiscal responsibilities & spending.

Teresa attended Kendall Whittier Elementary, and Wilson Middle School, and proudly graduated from Rogers High School. Teresa holds an Associate of Arts in French for TCC, a Bachelor of Arts in French with a minor in Education & Spanish from Oklahoma State University, a Master of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, and a Master of Educational Leadership from Oklahoma State University.

Teresa continues to operate in her passion in her free time by teaching English to immigrants and refugees twice weekly. She tries to live her life based on 1 Peter 3:8-19!
